At the College of Arts & Sciences, we’re proud to have esteemed teachers and researchers leading all of our academic departments. Dr. Pontelli has published 250+ papers, helped secure over $17M in research funding, and received multiple fellowships and awards, including an NSF CAREER. He is the director of KLAP, a federally funded research lab, and the founding director of iCREDITS, which focuses on smart-grid technology. In addition to directing the Young Women in Computing Program, he serves on the leadership team of the Computing Alliance of Hispanic-Serving Institutions (CAHSI).
Dr. Lakey is a Professor of Mathematics at New Mexico State University, specializing in applied harmonic analysis. A Fellow of the American Mathematical Society, he served as Head of the Department of Mathematical Sciences at NMSU from 2010 to 2019. He currently serves as the university’s Associate Dean for Academics in the College of Arts & Sciences.
Dr. Shuster is the Associate Dean for Research in the College of Arts & Sciences at NMSU and co-director of the New Mexico INBRE program. She joined the Partnership for the Advancement of Cancer Research (PACR) team in 2002 and currently serves as a co-investigator in the RAISE Core. Her research focuses on undergraduate and K–12 education in the biomedical sciences, with a particular interest in the impact of faculty professional development.
